How to Make Broccoli and Red Cabbage Slaw

You’ll need these ingredients in your mixing bowl.

  • 1 (12 oz) packages broccoli slaw mix
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/2 cup roasted and salted sunflower seeds
  • ยฝ a small head thinly sliced red cabbage
  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons firmly packed brown sugar
  • ยผ teaspoon salt
  • โ…› teaspoon black pepper

After you make the red wine vinegar dressing and toss everything together with a wooden spoon.

Next, pop this broccoli and red cabbage in the refrigerator and let the magic happen! All of those delicious flavors are going to marry, creating a simple but tasty side dish.

I love having this tasty slaw in the summertime as a great grilling side dish. It’s also nice to take to a summer potluck or picnic.

My Tips

Part of what makes this recipe so simple is the incorporation of store-bought broccoli slaw mix. I love this stuff!

If you don’t want to chop anything, you can exclude the red cabbage.

You can double the recipe for really big crowds.

If you love the crunch, you can add some additional nuts. Toasted almonds or pecans would be amazing.

Ingredients

  • 1 12 oz package broccoli slaw mix
  • 1 cup dried cranberries

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl, add the store-bought broccoli slaw mix, dried cranberries, sunflower seeds and shredded cabbage. Stir to mix the ingredients.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the red wine vinegar, olive oil, brown sugar, salt, and pepper. Pour this over the slaw mixture and toss to fully coat. Cover the bowl and refrigerate up to 2 hours before serving.
