My famous broccoli salad recipe is made with fresh broccoli, crispy bacon, sharp cheddar cheese, dried cranberries, and sweet and tangy sauce! It’s one of the best potluck salads, along with my Amish potato salad, our German cucumber salad, and this yummy broccoli and red cabbage slaw.

I also make the best macaroni salad and coleslaw!

Our Best Tips

  • What if I don’t like walnuts? No problem. Replace with pecans or sunflower seeds. You can also skip them all together.
  • Can you make this recipe with cauliflower in stead of broccoli? I haven’t tried it, but I don’t see why not!
  • What if I need to feed a crowd? Simply double the recipe! I do it all the time when I’m taking it to a potluck or picnic.
  • Can I make your broccoli salad ahead of time? Yes! Like most cold salads with sauce, it really tastes great on day two. I would just recommend keeping the bacon and the cheese out until just before the first serving, as both could get a big soft if left in the sauce overnight.

Iโ€™m gonna try this with cashews – my favorite nut (except for my husband (LOL).

Thx for the recipe…Iโ€™m gonna try it! ย
Iโ€™ve been making this for many years using miracle whip, plus I also put in cut up cauliflower. ย I use about 3/4 # bacon & save the grease, then add 2-3 T. to the sauce…sends that yummy bacon flavor all throughout & brings it to another level!

Very good as written…I cater, so here is a tip in “cutting the cost of this salad, since fresh broccille is expensive when serving more that 4 people)…I DO use Broccoli, but I Aldo “add a package of “SHREDDed Broccoli Slaw.(look in the fresh veggie salad deptparments of your grocery store)…I have substituted “raisin, instead of dried cranberries, and “in a last minute “pinch”…I used “Real Bacon Bits”…Sometime people just “pop over” and I have done this…Just as good…Oh, and “you “really don’t “need” the shredded cheese…I LOVE it…But in a situation “where I “didn’t have it on had…It was JUST as Delish “without the shredded cheese.
